Great find and nice pic. Before LA was decided as the next host site for the US, I think the story was Philadelphia, or at least one person in city hall, wanted to get the Olympics in 76.

yeah, that was oft discussed back in the day. in fact, it was built to be able to add a dome later, but it was too cost prohibitive. I think it was like $30M (which was a lot of money for the bulk of the useful life of the vet).

Anyone have any injury updates? Whole other list I'm sure will develop on who may be sitting out but this is what I have:

Confirmed good to go for opening day (per news wire):
Tommy Hunter
Victor Arano

Assumed good to go:
Andrew McCutchen
Jake Arrieta
Enyel De Los Santos (minors)

Not sure, need update:
David Robertson
Robert Stock (minors)

Assumed out for season:
Seranthony Dominguez
Why not just go storm Normandy and get shot in the face while you're at it

I screwed up putting it in the wrong thread last time but transactions are going to be allowed again starting today so we may see some movement on a JT extension.
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

I think before the costs and everything got so out of hand, Philly would have been a great place to host the Olympics--at least if JFK stadium could have been made usable. It would have been cool for some of the smaller events to be held at Franklin Field and the Palestra.

I meant to post this here before, but discovered this video a few weeks ago that is cool in its entirety (despite the ill-advised quotation that begins it), but 4:30 is about an alternative to the Vet with images that are clearly from some proposal that I had never seen before. Very interesting indeed.

Really. i think it's more preposterous to think that anyone would have added a pedestrian amenity than that they might have built a dome.

Sounds like the #Phillies will bring everyone in their 60-player pool to Philadelphia and base their entire spring training 2.0 out of Citizens Bank Park.

They'd talked about an alternate camp in Lehigh Valley.

They'll likely have to utilize extra fields nearby to make it work.
